BARCS seizes over 80 dogs from hoarding situation, Orioles Pitcher Cole Irvin leads rescue effort [Video]

The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter is asking for help after over 80 dogs were seized from a hoarding situation.

Through social media, BARCS announced the seizure of 83 dogs and one cat from a home in the Clyburn/Pimlico neighborhood on Thursday. The dogs are of different ages, sizes and breeds.

Bailey Deacon, a spokesperson for BARCS, said for those that cannot foster or adopt, a donation can be made as the shelter faces a minimum bill of $30,000 for the medical treatment of the dogs seized.

Baltimore Orioles pitcher Cole Irvin and his wife are among those that jumped into action during the hoarding crisis, donating $3,000 to the animal shelter.

The couple’s response was a substantial financial donation over the weekend, followed by in-person donations on Monday. Now, Irvin is encouraging others to join him in supporting the shelter.
