CROP Hunger Walk Aims to End Hunger in Erie County and Beyond – Erie News Now [Video]

The 47th annual CROP Hunger Walks took place at Beach 1 of Presque Isle earlier today.

Event organizers say that despite today’s weather, about 200 people showed up for the walk this year.

And organizers say that while it’s not as much as the approximately 400 people they get in a typical year, they’re still grateful for those who showed up and donated.

“Normally we probably see 350 to 400,” said event coordinator, Jim Haas. “But considering the weather, we can say we’re very thankful for those that came out, and the fact that the sunshine [out now] makes it even better.”

Haas says that while they get a good amount of money and food donations from those who physically participate in the walk, a sizable portion of their monetary donations comes from online.

“Much of our fundraising is done online,” continued Haas. “I think we’re about $17,000 online so …
