‘It’s really sad’: 4 schools close in Nampa [Video]

On Thursday, Centennial Elementary, Snake River Elementary, Greenhurst Elementary, and West Middle School officially closed their doors due to funding issues.

BOISE, Idaho — It’s the end of an era for four schools in Nampa — Centennial Elementary, Snake River Elementary, Greenhurst Elementary and West Middle School. Those four schools had their last day of school on Thursday, May 30, and will now close their doors for good.

“It’s kind of a bittersweet end to our school year,” said Gregg Russell, superintendent for the Nampa School District.

The schools had to close due to less funding from an AD enrollment switch, an enrollment decline across Nampa School District and less government stimulus money.

Russell said the community’s reaction has been mixed, with some excited to move into newer buildings and others sad to say goodbye.
