I'd been on the waiting list for months so even though it was a 1.5-hour trip from my house, it was worth the drive.As soon as I got there, a lovely lady greeted me and asked me to take a seat that was so comfortable, it felt like hope.She mixed a brown palette of makeup to match my natural skin tones. As soon as I saw one I was happy with she applied it to my skin.As soon as she was done I thanked her and off I was. I raced back to my car and started my journey home.Typically there was a lot of traffic on the way back. But I was OK sitting in it. It gave me lots of opportunities to turn the rear view mirror to face me so I could admire my newly painted face. I was excited to see the smile on my wife's face.But when I got home, my wife's reaction wasn't what I expected.She stood there for a moment which must have felt like an eternity then gently shook her head. "Ash, this isn't you. You were fine just the way you were."Her words hit me. I didn't cry but I swear there was something in my eye.
