Penobscot Sheriff’s Office dispatched to Hermon schools [Video]

There was a heavy police presence at the school “out of an abundance of caution,” the superintendent said.

HERMON, Maine — A heavy police presence was called in for Hermon’s elementary school Wednesday afternoon after the district reportedly received concerning phone calls. 

Micah Grant, superintendent of schools, said the district received several phone calls that prompted them to reach out to law enforcement for support at the Patricia A. Duran School for elementary students. 

“We have informed the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department, and they are handling the situation at this time,” Grant said in a social media post. “Out of an abundance of caution, there is a heavy police presence at Hermon elementary.” 

The post also stated that additional officers were provided by the sheriff’s office during evening dismissal at the middle school to “enhance safety for all students and staff.”
