Meet Sammy!

This handsome guy is very sweet, playful and seems to do well with other cats. He has been with ARE Animal Rescue just over two years, so, he’s spent basically his whole life at the shelter! Sadly, adult kitties tend to be overlooked for adoption for the younger kittens.

Sammy’s waiting to meet you at ARE Animal Rescue’s Hemet Adoption Center! Let’s try to get this sweet boy his forever home.

Middlesex business owner reflects on the one-year anniversary of the historic July floods [Video]

While the storm hit Washington County hard, the weather didn't stop community members from gathering in Middlesex Wednesday night to attend one of their favorite events.Sam Rosenberg is the owner of The Local Wine & Beer.Each month, they host a monthly wine-tasting night at his shop.He was afraid that no one would show up due to the weather.However, everyone that RSVP'd came. There was a crowd of about 20 people, including folks traveling from Burlington.Rosenberg also reflected on the one-year anniversary of the historic July floods.He said their shop, fortunately, wasn't affected too much.However, his team was able to help in other areas. "Vermont has a really incredible sense of community," Rosenberg said. "It was really nice to be able to figure out a way to give back to the community that's been supporting us because we weren't affected. We wanted to make sure the people that were, we were able to help out in every way we could."Rosenberg and his team volunteered to help clean up in Montpelier and Waterbury last year.They also fundraised $2,600 by selling nearly 100 T-shirts.They split the proceeds to four different nonprofit organizations that helped with flood recovery.
