Ridge To Reef Farm is a WCK Food Producer Network (FPN) program participant established in 2010 on St Croix as a working model of “beyond sustainable” agriculture. Ridge To Reef Farm is today the only certified organic farm in the US Virgin Islands. Their long list of clients include market stands, grocery stores, restaurants, CSA customers, agritourism events, and most importantly, the territory’s Farm to School program on both St. Croix and St. Thomas, which effectively ended a 50-year absence of locally produced crops in school cafeterias. With an FPN grant, Ridge To Reef bought a refrigerated cargo vehicle for aggregation and delivery of crops. This vehicle instantly more than doubled their capacity to deliver fresh produce directly from farms to public schools and other complementary markets. Additionally, with stand-by power, it keeps crops at the proper temperature for longer term storage and greatly increases the efficiency and flexibility of aggregation logistics. This vehicle dramatically increased the farm’s ability to reach a goal of increasing the amount of locally produced food on St Croix, and its distribution to the other Virgin Islands.__Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises, while working to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions. Support our efforts by making a donation: https://wck.org/donateAs temperatures across Ukraine drop rapidly, families are preparing for what will be some of the hardest months of the war to date. With the coldest, darkest days of winter fast approaching, WCK’s #ChefsForUkraine team is making necessary arrangements to meet the food needs of families throughout the country, including in frontline and recently liberated regions. For more than eight months, WCK’s teams have been supporting innocent Ukrainians whose lives have been turned upside down by the invasion. To date, we have served more than 175 million meals to people in need across Ukraine.__Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises, while working to build resilient food systems with locally led solutions.
