MEAL ON THE HOLIDAY. 12 NEWS IS MALLORY ANDERSON TALKED WITH THE VOLUNTEER ABOUT WHAT IT MEANS TO GIVE BACK. STATION, WHICH IS SO. ITS NOT OFTEN YOU SEE A JEWISH ORGANIZATION COOKING A BIG CHRISTMAS FEAST, BUT FOR 15 YEARS, THATS EXACTLY WHAT TIKKUN HIER HAS DONE TO DO MITZVAHS AND ACTS OF KINDNESS FOR THE REST OF THE COMMUNITY THAT IS CELEBRATING. THIS IS THE PERFECT TIME TO VOLUNTEER. SO WE HAVE A BUNCH OF VOLUNTEERS HELPING US COOK TODAY, AND THEN WE HAVE A WHOLE OTHER SET HELPING TO SERVE THE MEAL AT THE SHELTER TONIGHT. THESE WOMEN SPENT HOURS ON SUNDAY INSIDE THE CONGREGATION SINAI SYNAGOGUE PREPPING, CHOPPING AND COOKING ENOUGH FOOD FOR 60 PEOPLE. ONCE THE MEAL IS COMPLETED, ITS THEN BROUGHT HERE TO THE CATHEDRAL CENTER, WHICH IS AN EMERGENCY SHELTER FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN. WHATS IT LIKE TO BE ABLE TO GIVE BACK LIKE THIS, ESPECIALLY AROUND THE HOLIDAY SEASON? IT FEELS GREAT. EVEN THOUGH I MOSTLY AM THE REALM OF FOOD, I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING GIFT BAGS TOGETHER FOR THE CHILDREN OF ALL AGES AND THE WOMEN AT THE SHELTER AND THAT FELT LIKE A VERY IMPORTANT PROJECT, AND IM EXCITED THAT THEY ENJOY THE BAGS. ITS JUST A LITTLE BIT OF WARMTH AND FUN THINGS, EVEN THOUGH THEYRE NOT IN THE BEST CIRCUMSTANCES ON THAT HOLIDAY DAY. WHETHER IT WAS COOKING THE COMFORT FOOD OR HELPING SERVE THAT MEAL TO OTHERS, TIKKUN HIER SAYS THEYRE GRATEFUL TO GIVE BACK AND HONORED TO HAVE SO MANY MEMBERS WILLING TO STEP UP. WE HAD A WAITING LIST FOR BOTH THE COOKING PROJECT TODAY, AS WELL AS THE SERVING THE MEAL TONIGHT, SO PEOPLE ARE OBVIOUSLY ANXIOUS TO GET BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY AND HELP IN MILWAUKE MALLORY ANDERSON WISN 12 NEWS. AND TONIGHTS DINNER IS JUST ONE OF MANY WAYS TYCOON HIER HAS GIVEN BACK THIS HOLIDAY SEASON. THEY HAVE ALSO BEEN DISTRIBUTING GIFTS ALL OVER MILWAUKEE.
