Five Important Things Coach Rose Learned In A Funder Outreach Call That Strengthened Her Proposal [Video]

Are you a little freaked out at the idea of talking with a funder? 😬 Don’t fret! So many amazing things come from speaking with funders. ✨ This video covers five things that can be learned from a funder outreach call. Curious how you could get into grant writing and build a career in it? Here is a free training on how to do that without volunteering or having prior experience: https://www.learngrantwriting.org/webinar-videos/discover-grant-writing Relationship building with funders is KEY. 🗝️ In Meredith Noble’s book, How To Write A Grant: Become A Grant Writing Unicorn, she quotes Judith Crotty saying “Nothing is worse than getting a cold application and not knowing where it came from, even if it is perfectly written.” 🤔 Five things that can come from a funder outreach call: 1️⃣ Confirming Funding Program Eligibility The wording on the funder website was confusing with similar grant names and had Rose not asked, she would have advised the client to apply for the wrong grant. 2️⃣ Connecting With Key Partners The funder walked Rose and the organization through her thinking on what would support our project best, but she also clued them into what the foundation wanted to see–more programs for aged citizens and immigrant youth in the area. She also offered to connect Rose over email with two organizations that Rose had not previously been able to contact. 💃🏼 3️⃣ Who To Seek A Letter Of Support From The funder indicated that the foundation would want to see a LOS from a past collaborator of a successful project. 4️⃣ Clarification On The Budget Rose learned how much information the funder actually wanted. 5️⃣ An Offer To Read The First Draft Rose and her client were ahead of the application deadline and the program officer offered to read their first draft. Rose received great critical feedback. 📣 We want to hear from you! Have you conducted a funder outreach meeting? Did you discover anything critical about your application or project that you wouldn’t have otherwise? What questions did you ask? Let us know in the comments below.
