I’m Jolene Meyer. I work for Ripon Area School District as our public relations specialist. My position is unique in that I’m not just our communicator for our district, I’m also the assistant to our superintendent and I work with our school board and do some work in our human resources. It’s kind of like a jack of all trades type position, because we’re a smaller district, we have 1700 students. So time is super-valuable to me, as it is for many people, but being able to tap into their expertise allows me to make wiser choices about what we do and really kind of helps me to maximize our social media platforms. It’s a great way to network. It’s a great way to find people who know what your role is like, who are boots on the ground themselves, have vast amounts of experience and knowledge, and everyone is so supportive and eager to help you. When you have a problem, you can tap into them really at any time, on the weekends, at night, people really are really dedicated to supporting each other and helping one another, and that’s been huge.
