TXU Energy, United Way of Abilene host fan, food distribution [Video]

More than 40 box fans were distributed to partner agencies and 60 meals were packed for City Light Community Ministries’ clients Thursday.

ABILENE, Texas — As temperatures continue to climb into the triple digits, the summer heat is already impacting the most vulnerable people, including West Texans.

TXU Energy partnered with the United Way of Abilene to provide relief Thursday as staff and volunteers distributed more than 40 box fans to United Way partner agencies and packed 60 meals for City Light Community Ministries clients.

The fans and meals were made available through a $4,000 donation from TXU Energy’s signature Beat the Heat program, which has been helping Texans stay cool for more than 25 years.

United Way of Abilene distributed the fans to its partner agencies and from there, fans will be distributed to families in need.
