Nonas Nest provides relief to children in out-of-home care, in need of volunteers [Video]

GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) – When a child enters the foster care system, it can be traumatic and disorienting for them. Often, due to the immediacy of their situations, they find themselves without many personal belongings.

Nona’s Nest is a nonprofit organization that provides clothing and other necessities for children in out-of-home care and children at risk of going into the foster care system.

Since 2010, Jini Payne and her husband have been fostering children in their home. Four years ago, they were called to foster three babies and found themselves without the necessary items for children that age.

Payne took to social media and got the word out that they were in need of baby items and the community immediately sprung into action.

“They also started bringing us things that we didn’t need,” Payne said, “and even after those children were gone, people were still bringing us things and people were calling …
