Arlington ISD cutting 275 positions at end of school year [Video]

With federal COVID funding running out, the Arlington ISD will be cutting 275 positions at the end of this school year, according to school district officials.

Arlington ISD Superintendent Dr. Matt Smith says the funds were always meant to be temporary and were designed to address learning loss caused by the pandemic.

Most of the positions to be eliminated are supporting positions, including teacher assistants, drop-out prevention, and some after-school programs.

Officials say those people who will be cut are encouraged to apply for other openings within the district.
