Cape Ann ARTWaves – Greg Bover

Gregory Bover is the former Vice President for Operations at C.B. Fisk, Inc. of Gloucester, Massachusetts, designers and builders of pipe organ for churches, concert halls and academic institutions across the United States and around the world.

Greg had many important functions, but a key role was as Project Manager, leading structural and mechanical design and participating in the visual and architectural aspects of each project, while saving a little woodworking for himself.

Additionally, during his 42 years at Fisk, Greg took full advantage of the company policy encouraging shop members to do their own work after hours in the state-of-the-art Gloucester woodshop, building and restoring furniture, and creating useful things from his own designs.

Greg’s love of woodworking started much earlier. Greg began working with his father, a carpenter and mechanic, at 14, building houses around New England. After college, at University of New Hampshire he moved on to boat building as a cabin and deck carpenter with Bruno & Stillman in Newington NH. The simplicity and symmetry of the Arts and Crafts Movement has always influenced his work; side trips during lengthy organ building installations in Japan and the American Southwest have added Mission and Japanese flavors to his designs.
