The program is intended to help nonprofit organizations increase their physical security posture against acts of terrorism as defined by law. This presentation was provided by DHSES Grants to attendees at a recent meeting for the Asian American and Pacific Islander community in New York City on May 6, 2022. Ernest Grant, PhD, RN, FAAN, delivers the Duke University School of Nursing Spring 2022 Hooding and Recognition Ceremony address. Throughout his 30-plus years in nursing, Grant has developed a global reputation as a prominent clinician, educator and burn-care and fire-safety expert. He is currently the 36th president of American Nurses Association (ANA) and is the first man to hold the position. The ANA serves as a leading organization of the nurse-led National Commission to Address Racism in Nursing, meant to examine the issue of racism within nursing nationwide; in addition, Grant has spoken publicly about the commission’s objectives and findings in addition to other topics such as ways to increase trust of the COVID-19 vaccine within communities of color. The hooding and recognition ceremony marks the ANA leader’s first formal Duke School of Nursing appearance.
