Central Catholic Elementary Collects Shoes for Natural Disaster Victims KQKI News [Video]

Central Catholic Elementary collected 3,775 shoes on Thursday, February 8 to be given to victims of natural disasters.

PTO President Danielle Grow told KQKI News that she found an organization in a fundraising book called Funds2orgs, which is a nonprofit company that collects shoes for natural disaster victims.

The organization then cleans, sanitizes, and stores them at their facility in Orlando, Florida.

The principal of Central Catholic School, Amanda Talbot, says that the school likes to instill service within their students; and this was a great service project for them because the kids did all the work themselves.

The 4-H and Beta Club inspected the shoes, bagged them, and then prepared them to be picked up.

The total amount of bags collected was 151 with 25 pairs in each bag. Central Catholic also received help from the community by the way of local churches and the East St. Mary Kiwanis Club.

Grow says, “Without the community, this wouldn’t have been a success.”
