Grant Writing for Non-Profits

Chicago organizations receive grants from foundation [Video]

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Three local organizations are welcoming a windfall of money, thanks to generous grants from a Chicago non-profit.

The money is in the form of legacy grants from The Driehaus Foundation in memory of its founder, late fund manager and philanthropist Richard H. Driehaus.

Preservation Chicago is receiving the largest of the grants — $2.3 million. The organizations works to preserve buildings across the city that have architectural or cultural significance.

Another grant for $1.5 million is going to Arts Work Fund, which helps small arts organizations in the Chicago area.

And the Better Government Association is receiving more than $1.4 million to help with the nonprofit news organization’s efforts to promote transparency, efficiency and accountability in government.

The Driehaus Foundation’s Executive Director says the grants are the largest ever awarded by the non-profit and reflect their founder’s passion for architecture, historic preservation, the arts, investigative journalism and Chicago.
