Clive Myrie’s Caribbean Adventure had viewers captivated this evening, but there was a sobering moment on the BBC show when his tearful sister Judith recalled how her childhood had been filled with upheaval and “trauma”. She was born in Jamaica, but when their father followed their mother to England as part of the Windrush Generation in 1962, Judith was left behind.

Clive listened supportively as she relived how their parents, like “hundreds of thousands of others”, had travelled to England to further their financial opportunities and be better able to provide for their children. The pair discussed how most migrants intended to eventually return to the Caribbean, and that the move had originally been a “five-year plan”.
