DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Christmas and Thanksgiving may be well in the past, but it’s still the season of giving in Danville.
People throughout the community are coming together to help keep people warm through three simple words: The Giving Fence.

It’s an idea Hope Garrett got involved in at Education Personnel Federal Credit Union after seeing how much it’s helping people at another bank location. People in the community can hang up coat donations on a fence, or take them to stay warm. Garrett said it allows people to get what they need without feeling shame.
“We are getting the coats to the people who need them. It really works. I saw it. It works,” she said.
And at 101 West Main Street, it’s still working.
