The record-shattering totals were led by a whopping 891,310 American Airlines flights in and out of Des Moines in 2023.
A total 3,097,006 passengers utilized the airport in 2023, shattering previous records, a Thursday press release from Des Moines Airport Authority claims.

- Southwest: 380,168

In December 2023 alone, DSM served a total of 252,219 passengers – which is a 11.7% increase compared to the same month in 2022.
“This achievement is a testament to the airport’s commitment to growing air service and its pivotal role in connecting communities,” the Thursday announcement reads in part.
Kevin Foley, executive director of the Des Moines Airport Authority, said the achievement is the product of teamwork and a wanderlust population.
