Electric bus infrastructure recommendations presented to PPS board [Video]

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The future of Peoria Public Schools’ transportation is on its way to becoming greener.

After it was announced last month that PPS will be getting 15 electric school buses thanks to federal funding, the question now is how those buses will be implemented in the district.

Data was presented by Veregy representative Michele James at Monday’s Peoria Public Schools’ Board of Education meeting. Veregy is a company that helps organizations with their energy transitions.

The total project cost is estimated to be around $4.2 million. However, the company estimated that the annual electric and solar savings would be approximately $214,352. Solar incentives and rebates would total over $1 million as well. Over 30 years, the estimated cash flow would be $7 million, which James said was a positive number for the district.
