Food Bank of Lincoln offering programs to feed LPS families [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — This school year, the Food Bank of Lincoln is bringing back two programs that aim to feed Lincoln Public Schools students and their families.

The Backpack Program runs for 34 weeks, sending students home with a backpack full of food to tide them over through the weekend.

The food bank also offers School Food Markets and Pantries, giving students and their families access to food whenever they need.

Through that program, the organization delivers food to schools once a month.

Kati Umberger of the food bank said monetary donations make these programs possible.

She said it costs $250 a year to support a student in the Backpack Program and just $100 per student in the School Food Pantry program.
