ELLSWORTH — Grace Horner, Josh Wedge, and Spencer Laurendeau are MDI students who have been working together on a project for the annual vocational school competition Skills USA.
The goal of their project is to raise money through community events for Arcadian Youth Sports, a non-profit that allows children in the greater Bar Harbor area to try their hand at football, basketball, baseball, softball, golf, and or cheerleading.
“They don’t have like a lot of funding, a lot of the like ability to buy all new equipment all the time,” says Wedge, “So we really wanted to help them out and get some new equipment for these kids.”
The group hopes, with the funding provided by their project, a-y-s will be able to buy a slew of new equipment for at least one of the sports they offer.
