Homeless outreach group spends 48 hours living on the streets for fundraiser [Video]

Organizers with homeless outreach nonprofit Street Angels are living on the streets this weekend as part of their annual 48 Hours fundraiser.The group is raising money for more resources and standing in solidarity with the people they serve.The money donated through the 48 Hours campaign helps fund programs for the nonprofit throughout the year. Some of the money raised will go towards renting a mobile shower unit in 2024, according to one of Street Angels’ founders, Eva Welch. “We are 100 percent community funded,” Welch said.Their goal this year is to raise $150,000. “I wanted to know what it was like to experience homelessness, especially to know how to better serve them. What they might need,” Welch said.In previous years, Welch has spent the weekend in a tent. This year, she is in her car at a park-and-ride.
