LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) – Longview ISD unveiled a new book vending machine at Johnston McQueen Elementary on Friday in celebration of Read Across America Day.
Como-Pickton CISD receives grant to improve literacy
“I’m excited to see how our kids are going to be able to really just continue to grow in their reading,” said Christy Scott, head of school at Johnston McQueen. “Many of our kids don’t have the opportunities to receive books or go get and purchase new books. So for them to be able to have a choice and be able to pick high quality books, we know that that will impact our instruction and our kids reading.”
This is the Greater Longview United Way’s 14th donation as a part of their Read To Succeed program which is their way of impacting students through literature.
