Kansas City charity receives grant to help struggling veterans [Video]

A new grant could help veterans in Kansas City who are struggling to pay their bills.Brett Morris with Catholic Charities of Kansas City and Saint Joseph says few public service programs are better than the ones that help veterans in the United States.While the charity organization already has a program to help housing-challenged veterans, he says the grant can help them do more.“We wanted to try to reach out and reach those people who didn’t qualify for that but also needed help,” Morris said.The Disabled Veterans National Foundation recognized the need in the Kansas City area and awarded Catholic Charities a cash grant to help their efforts. The $15,000 grant is specifically designed to help those who are struggling to pay for things like winter clothes and utility bills.The pre-established veteran’s program can also help with rent for those who need it.
