Local nonprofits discuss the dangers of human trafficking on National Human Trafficking Awareness Day [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – At this very second, millions of people around the world are gripped by modern-day slavery, according to the U.S, Department of State.

January 11 is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

“People are not for sale,” said Chris Ziebach, Founder and CEO of Camille Place,

Camille Place is a home for children rescued from the throngs of human trafficking. Since the home opened in August, seven children have found safety and a fresh start.

“Not just a night of safety and food and basic needs met, but you have helped them overcome a fear and so it’s a day-by-day task that we have at Camille Place with helping each child overcome and walk in freedom,” said Ziebach.

Ziebach says oftentimes, victims are hidden in plain sight.
