Major layoffs could come to Pasadena schools [Video]

The Pasadena Unified School District could cut nearly 200 jobs at its meeting Thursday night.

It’s part of a plan to address the state’s budget deficit, shrinking enrollment, and the end of one-time COVID funding.

If the job cuts are approved, the layoffs are expected to save the district $9 million. The job cuts would include teachers and counselors.

The plan to cut jobs was first discussed in February. Commenters are concerned about the cuts to special education, they feel that those are disproportionate.
