Meals on Wheels still taking care of Morgan County residents despite budget cuts | News [Video]

Meals on Wheels stocking up on donations 

As grocery prices increase, local organizations are struggling to stay afloat. 

Meals on Wheels in Decatur has seen the effects of inflation directly.

The nonprofit says, as everything becomes more expensive, it’s been difficult keeping up with the demand. 

“I have seen an increase in when I’m ordering food, now things are more expensive,” Shontez Wynn, the food service manager at Meals on Wheels, said. “My truck order is a lot higher now just to feed the 300 people I’m ordering for.” 

Meals on Wheels provides 300 meals to homebound disabled and elderly people every weekday across Morgan County. 

“With Meals on Wheels going out, it is making a difference in the community by sending the food bags and the volunteers checking on them,” Wynn continued. “A lot of times, they check on them outside of what they do here.”
