Member of House Judiciary Committee reacts to proposed constitutional amendment for education funding [Video]

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – With the Dunleavy Administration at odds with a decision from the state’s Superior Court over funding to correspondence schools, the House Judiciary Committee has weighed in on the matter by proposing a constitutional amendment.

The amendment would remove language in the state’s constitution which prohibits public funds from benefiting private and religious educational institutions.

The move was announced in a press release from Committee Chair Sarah Vance, and Vice Chair Jamie Allard.

However, not all members of the committee are on board with this proposal.

Representative Andrew Gray said he was not made aware of the introduced amendment in advance, and does not support it.
