New cycle lanes being tested on Salisbury Road [Video]

Tasman District Council

As part of the TDC’s Richmond Streets for People programme, this is how the Salisbury Fly Through will look once completed.

New cycle lanes are being tested on Salisbury Rd in Richmond, as part of a project to make streets safer.

Two metres wide lanes are being installed on either side of the road with 800mm high plastic separators creating a distance between the vehicle lane and riders, Tasman District Council transportation manager Jamie McPherson said.

“The test area is between the two raised crossings outside Waimea Intermediate School.”

The work is part of the council’s Richmond Streets for People programme which has received $2.4 million in Government funding to create a network of safe walking and cycling spaces across Richmond.
