Perry Projects could be demolished as soon as this summer [Video]

There are now discussions on moving $5 million in grant funding from Empire State Development to the city.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — New developments are in motion involving the long-vacant Perry Projects in Buffalo’s Old First Ward.

There are now discussions about moving $5 million in grant funding from Empire State Development to the city.

If approved, the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority would be able to begin demolition on two dozen blighted buildings by the summer.

“This is changing the narrative, especially in a community that has seen blight for a very long time if you’ve been over or seen the Perry Projects these properties that were talking about they’ve been boarded up and vacant for a very long time so this is finally seeing some traction to create the perry homes, ” said Leah Halton-Pope, Ellicott District councilwoman.
