PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – It’s the fifth day without power for many in the Portland area, and resources are wearing thin for those who aren’t able to travel across the ice.
As crews work around the clock, others are starting to get lights and heat back for the first time in nearly a week.
Cassidy Zusman, who lives near the Cedar Mill neighborhood, became one of those people on Wednesday morning.
Fox 12 spoke with her just 20 minutes after her power came back on at around 11 a.m.
“I was ready for a two-day situation,” Zusman said. “I had plenty of crackers, I had plenty of stuff in the pantry but once it reached three days straight of no power, I was like okay, I think this might be a little more serious.”
She and her cat Henry have been keeping warm under blankets and layers, but others weren’t …
