Prague Travel Tips and Recommendations | Suggestions for Planning and Logistics

Prague is located in Central Europe (not Eastern)
Czechia is the official country name (“Czech Republic” is also used) – It’s NOT “Czechoslovakia”, which has not existed since 1993 (split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia)
Currency is the Czech crown (koruna) – You should carry some cash, but most places accept credit cards (especially tap to pay)
Lodging – I recommend staying within walking distance to Old Town, but not too close to nightlife
Popular Sites – try to visit during the off-peak (morning or evening) hours and/or during a weekday
Public transport is amazing – Metro, trams, buses, ferries, and the funicular
Airport transfer is affordable and easy (take a bus to tram/metro)
If you have time, get out of the city for at least one day – Karlštejn Castle (Hrad Karlštejn), Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj), and Divoká Šárka are great options.
Restaurants – Try to the daily menu (weekdays for lunch)
Learn some basic Czech phrases – Good day (Dobrý den), Thank You (Děkuji), Please (Prosím)
Prague has something for everyone – Food, music, art, history…….
