SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The holidays are a time to give back, and many local nonprofits lean into that sense of generosity to fundraise for their cause.
The Salvation Army said its holiday campaigns were a big success.
Over 2,000 kids in the community received Christmas gifts thanks to the Salvation Army toy shop.
The annual Red Kettle Campaign brought in $317,000, surpassing their goal by about $12,000.
The money will fund weekly community meals, youth and senior programs, the Food Pantry and other bills the organization has.
”We struggle every year to make it, but this year we made it very successfully, and it is due to the wonderful community we have here and the wonderful weather we had, and the good bell ringers we had, so we are blessed for that,” said Major Marlys Anderson.
