Santas drink their way across downtown Lawrence for charity The Lawrence Times [Video]

Since 2010, SantaCon has been known as Lawrence’s most festive pub crawl. This Saturday’s event brought together more than 50 people to benefit charity, support local businesses, and spread Christmas cheer … all while dressed up as Santa, reindeer, elves, and more.

The group’s tipsy tour included stops at Sandbar, Lucia, Harbour Lights, and Red Lyon. Along the way, the event organizers reminded everyone of two simple rules: tip your bartenders and be responsible.

After all, SantaCon is inspired by a good cause. The annual event collects donations for various local nonprofit organizations. Donations from this year’s event go toward 100 Good Women, a volunteer group that supports local social services in responding to short-term needs for residents in Douglas County. Donations from past events have benefitted charities such as the Lawrence Humane Society and Ballard Community Services.
