Sara Misir lends support to special-needs school | News [Video]

Sara Misir has expressed hope that more persons will contribute to special-needs institutions on the island.

Misir, Jamaica’s first Formula 1 woman driver, recently selected Genesis Academy, a special-needs school in the capital city, to benefit from a $100,000 donation through N.C.B. Foundation’s annual Grant a Wish programme.

“I have a brother diagnosed with Down syndrome who used to attend Genesis Academy, and it was one of the only places in Kingston that had a programme designed to support his specific condition,” Misir shared.

Genesis Academy runs a life-skills curriculum for special-needs persons age 12-25 years old. The Kingston-based institution, which has been in operation for 19 years, delivers skills training to students with learning challenges, using speech, music and art therapy.
