AND THE FOLKS BEHIND A LONG RUNNING CHARITABLE EVENT ARE HOPING YOU WONT FORGET ABOUT THEM. GIVE A KID A CHRISTMAS STARTED ALMOST 30 YEARS AGO AND CONTINUES TO BE A COOPERATIVE EFFORT BETWEEN THE SURRY COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE AND THE SURRY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM. LAST YEAR, IT RAISED MORE THAN $100,000 AND HELPED PROVIDE GIFTS AND CLOTHING FOR 400 CHILDREN. FORMER SURRY COUNTY SHERIFF GRAHAM ATKINSON STARTED THIS PROGRAM IN THE 90S. HE SAYS ITS ALL ABOUT MAKING KIDS FEEL JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. THE KIDS THAT WE SERVE ARE ALREADY FEEL DIFFERENT ENOUGH ALL YEAR LONG ON CHRISTMAS. WE WANT THEM TO BE JUST ANOTHER KID THAT SANTA CAME TO SEE. HOW DOES IT MAKE YOU FEEL PLAYING A SMALL PART IN MAGICAL CHRISTMAS MORNINGS FOR SO MANY KIDS? THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE GREAT BLESSINGS OF MY LIFE. THEY ARE HAVING A FACEBOOK LIVE TELETHON IN LESS THAN FOUR WEEKS, NOVEMBER 27TH. THEYRE BIG SHOPPING DAY IS DECEMBER 7TH AND THE FOOD BOX PACKING DAY IS DECEMBER 9TH. WE HAVE LINKS TO DONATE AND VOLUNTEE
