The CowParade includes 75 life-size cows which have been designed and painted by a range of artists throughout New England. The parade is presented by Herb Chambers and recognize the Jimmy Funds’s 75th anniversary. The cows are actually auctioned off and some of the cows are still available to bid for today. PLANS TO EXPAND CARE FOR NEW MEXICANS. ITS A ITS A GREAT HONOR AND A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY. DR. YOLANDA SANCHEZ HAS BEEN CEO OF THE UNM COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CENTER FOR ABOUT HALF A YEAR, AND ALREADY SHES CONTRIBUTING CUTTING EDGE RESEARCH. SHE BEGAN RESEARCHING DECADES AGO, FOCUSED ON GENERAL MEDICINE. BUT WHEN HER MENTOR SHIFTED TO CANCER RESEARCH, SO DID SHE. MY PROJECT BECAME A CANCER PROJECT THEN, AND. AND I WAS HOOKED. AND IVE BEEN DOING THAT SINCE THEN. DR. SANCHEZ EXPLAINS HER BREAKTHROUGH WITH A CAR ANALOGY. THE PROJECT WAS TO TAKE A CHROMOSOME, WHICH HAS A LOT OF GENES FROM A NORMAL CELL AND MOVE IT INTO A TUMOR CELL. AND IF IT WAS IF THE GENE THAT WAS MISSING WAS ON THAT CHROMOSOME, THEN IT WOULD BE RESTORED IN THE TUMOR CELL. AND THE CELLS COULD NOT MAKE A TUMOR ANYMORE. IT WAS LIKE YOU WERE PUTTING THE BREAK BACK IN. I FOUND OUT TWO OF THOSE BREAKS. IT WAS A HIGH AND IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF MY JOURNEY IN CANCER RESEARCH. MOST RECENTLY, DR. SANCHEZ LED RESEARCH AT DARTMOUTH SCHOOL OF MEDICINE. BUT THE EL PASO NATIVE WANTS TO BRING THAT SAME LEVEL OF CARE TO THE AREA SHE CALLS HOME. I THINK THAT A LOT OF WHAT IS DISCOVERED HERE DOESNT HAVE TO STAY IN NEW MEXICO. BUT WE START HERE. ONE WAY THATS POSSIBLE FUNDRAISING THROUGH THE LOBO CANCER CHALLENGE RAISING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THE CANCER CENTER AND ITS PATIENTS SCIENCE. I WANT CHALLENGERS TO KNOW THAT THEY ARE PART OF OUR TEAM AND THAT WE WILL CELEBRATE THEM AS
