Big Slick breaks another record for Children’s Mercy [Video]

The Big Slick and Children’s Mercy Hospital have done it again. This year’s Big Slick Celebrity Weekend raised $3.97 million, bringing the grand total since the inaugural event in 2010 to $25 million! The new record-breaking amount surpasses 2023’s fundraising total of $3.5 million for pediatric cancer research in 2023.The annual event brings in some of the biggest celebrities to participate in a celebrity softball game, and the main attraction, Party and Show. Through multiple sponsorships, ticket sales, merchandise sells, the limited-edition T-shirt, silent and live auctions, and donations, the event was an overwhelming success this year. Undoubtedly, a key to the success was the numerous charitable sponsors and celebrities that make the annual trip to support Children’s Mercy’s fundraiser. A few of the local celebrities that came home to star in the event were Jason Sudeikis, Paul Rudd, Rob Riggle, Heidi Gardner, and a host of other celebrities and even the Kansas City Chiefs own Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. Even with all of the star power that showed up to support the event, the celebrities and organizations involved are always quick to point to who they call the “true” stars of the Big Slick the patients. Children’s Mercy addresses youth mental health through early intervention and access, which this event helps a large number of kids who don’t normally get the help that they need.
