Learning Cafe April 2022 – Scott Richman [Video]

“What Are the Jews – a Faith, a People, a Nationality? What Is Antisemitism, and Why Is It Still Around? a Conversation with a Regional Director of the Anti-defamation League”Join us on for an important conversation with the Director of ADL’s Regional Office covering New York and New Jersey, Scott Richman, who will offer an overview about the identity of the Jewish people and explain the definition of antisemitism. Richman will discuss how this phenomenon manifests itself both in the real world and online, posit reasons for the concerning trend, and he will discuss ways that we can all play a role in fighting this rising tide. ADL works closely with many institutions and partners across New York and New Jersey, including the NAACP, the Attorney General, the Office of Civil Rights, the New York legislature, local and federal law enforcement, and many schools across the state.Scott Richman serves as the Director for ADL’s largest regional office covering New York and New Jersey. He oversees the work of the region, which includes incident response, anti-bias education, legislative initiatives, educational programs, – all designed to fight antisemitism and combat hate in all its forms. This is reflected in his weekly national podcast called “From the Frontlines.” Richman comes to ADL from the American Jewish Committee (AJC) where he served as Regional Director for Westchester (NY) and Fairfield (CT) Counties. In that role, he was responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of this top regional office dedicated to advocacy on key issues impacting the American Jewish community. He came to AJC as an experienced Jewish professional, having served for 10 years at the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) aiding the rebirth of Jewish life in the Former Soviet Union, and three years as the founding Director of Dor Chadash, a non-profit startup which engaged young professionals in the New York area.Richman was a practicing attorney and investment banker before becoming a Jewish professional. He worked at a firm specializing in international law and in public finance at Merrill Lynch. He received his undergraduate degree in finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and he earned his law degree from Brooklyn Law School. Scott subsequently completed an executive certificate program at Columbia University’s Business School in nonprofit management.

Build an A Team Best Audiobook Summary By Whitney Johnson [Video]

Build an A Team By Whitney Johnson – Free Audiobook Summary and ReviewLead each person on your team up the learning curve. What’s the secret to having an engaged and productive team? It’s having a plan for developing all employees–no matter where they are on their personal learning curves.Better morale and higher performance happen through learning, argues Whitney Johnson. In over twenty years of coaching, investing, and consulting, Johnson has seen that employees need continuous learning and fresh challenges to stay motivated. The best bosses know this, and they know how to make it happen by thoughtfully designing people’s jobs around the skills they have today as well as the skills they’ll need to be even more valuable tomorrow. That’s how entire organizations stay competitive in an unpredictable, rapidly changing business environment. In this book, Johnson explains how to become one of those bosses and how to build your A-team by:Identifying what your employees already know and what they need to learnDesigning their jobs to maximize engagement and learningApplying a seven-step process for leading each person up their learning curveWe all want opportunities to learn, experiment, and grow in our jobs. When our bosses work with us to help us leap to new challenges, the result is a team that knows how to thrive, no matter what the future holds.Great read, applies well to educational leadership! This book was such a great read. It made me think and assess where am I on the S-curve and whether I should disrupt myself to continue. Education is a different type of organization, as some teachers would love to keep teaching the same grade for the rest of their career. Sometimes that’s great, because they bring something new to the classroom each year. But it could also become rote and routine, lacking the passion of being in the sweet spot. As a school principal, this book was invaluable. It helped me to think about where my teachers and staff are on their S curves, and how we can work together to disrupt or continue their trajectories. I would like to see my staff’s answers on an S-curve survey in aggregate so I can better make decisions for the overall organization and the individual people within it.Did you love our upload of Build an A Team By Whitney Johnson – Free Audiobook Summary and Review? Bringing Out the Best in Others! Best Audiobook Summary By Thomas K. Connellan, PhD [Video]

Bringing Out the Best in Others! By Thomas K. Connellan, PhD – Free Audiobook Summary and ReviewDid you know that two-thirds of all entrepreneurs are first born. That 21 of the first 23 astronauts were first born. That 45 percent of female world leaders between 1960 and 1999 were first born. Using these three factors, business leaders increased productivity and improved profits, parents boosted their children’s grade point averages, educators improved the performances of entries classes. Include Leader’s Guide.Comfortable, Convincing, Effective.I like a book that grabs my attention and my curiosity right away, a book that keeps me engaged. The writing style, like sitting in on a conversation, hooked me in the first few pages. You’ll find this book to be a deceivingly quick read, though you’ll probably catch yourself a number of times-stopping, looking back over what you just read, and asking “what did he say?” Some of the lessons kind of sneak up on you.The premise of Connellan’s approach is that three factors influence success: Expectations, Responsibility, and Feedback. He relates those factors to improving human performance-in business, in school, in family relationships, in personal development. Some improvement is measurable; some is not, but you know the improvement is there. In 15 chapters, the reader takes a journey through Connellan’s three keys. After a couple of introductory chapters on why people fall short and how to create consistently high performance, each of the keys is explained, with how-to, by a consultant/counselor. His workshop participants listen, then put the theories to work. A chapter on each success story illustrates what can be done in a teaching mode that’s inspirational at the same time.I like the practicality of this book. You’ll find plenty of good ideas, well-presented. The last few pages hold a surprise: a Leader’s Tool Kit to put the book’s lessons to work. While reemphasizing his three keys-confidence and expectations, accountability, and appropriate feedback, Connellan offers additional resources and suggestions. This book will be valuable for educators, parents, coaches, and corporate executives at all level. It’s small enough so it’s not intimidating, but filled with a lot more value than you’d expect.Did you love our upload of Bringing Out the Best in Others! By Thomas K.
