French Polynesia 🇵🇫, Bora Bora [Video]

Called in the 60s of the twentieth century the most beautiful island in the world, it remains the most beautiful to this day, better than which you can hardly find anything.Bora Bora is one of the most romantic places on the planet, which is why it is chosen by lovers and newlyweds who dream of spending their honeymoon here, enjoying the stunning beauty of nature. The uniqueness of the island lies in the fact that its lagoon, even with a gray cloudy sky and rain, remains invariably bright, with an emerald tint. And the variety of aromas, the richness of colors, the quirkiness of the forms of the flowers of the island are simply amazing.Bora Bora is located 240 kilometers northwest of Tahiti. Vajdahunyad Castle [Video]

Vajdahunyad Castle is a dominant feature of the City Park, and undoubtedly one of the most romantic places in Budapest. It is located on a small island called Széchenyi Island, surrounded by the boating lake of the City park. The castle, made originally of wooden planks and cardboard designs, was supposed to be just a temporary structure built for the Millennial Exhibition in 1896, to showcase the architectural treasures of the 1000 years old Hungarian State. It was designed by Ignác Alpár , who blended the most characteristic details of 21 well known historic buildings from all over Hungary, into a composite fairy-tale castle. Hungarians loved the castle so much, that after the closing of the exhibition, it was rebuilt in stone. At the time of its construction Hungary was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, that collapsed in 1918, and some of these buildings today are found outside the border of Hungary. The buildings can be divided into 3 well distinguished sections according to their architectural styles. The Romanesque section displays the oldest buildings of Hungary from the 11th to the 13th century. The most characteristic of them, the replica of the Church of Jak – extended also with a beautiful cloister – is a functioning catholic church too. The most striking element of the 14th and 15th century Gothic section, and the whole building as well, is the replica of the Transylvanian Castle of Vajdahunyad – once called the King of Castles – found today in Romania. No wonder, the local people named the whole castle after this part Vajdahunyad Castle, which name eventually stayed with it. It is often referred to as Dracula’s castle, as the character of count Dracula of Bram Stoker’s famous novel, was most probably inspired by the merciless Vlad the Impaler, the 15th-century Transylvanian prince, who was imprisoned in the medieval castle of Vajdahunyad by Janos Hunyadi, the father of king Matthias, who built Matthias church in the Buda Castle. An interesting feature is that in 2003, a Dracula statue – made by a German sculptor – was secretly placed into a niche, located on the south-eastern corner of the castle. The bust depicts the Hungarian actor Bela Lugosi in his Dracula cape, the star of the very first Dracula movie released in the United States in 1931 . When he died in 1956, he was buried in his Dracula cape, and got also a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Baroque-Renaissance section features a spectacular baroque palace, merging the most characteristic elements of rich Austrian palaces of the Empire. The building has been home of the Hungarian Agricultural Museum since 1897. The statue located in front of the Museum, depicts an early 13 century monk, called Anonymus, who was the first chronicle writer of Hungary. We can’t see his face, as we don’t know his name. His figure is completely dark while his pen is shiny, as thousands of students come to touch it before their exams, believed to bring fortune. The castle courtyard is opened until midnight and can be visited free of charge. The Gatehouse tower located at the main entrance, offers a small exhibition of the history of the castle, and a nice view of the castle courtyard and the City Park from above. You can also book a tour of the Apostles’ tower, that provides a 360 degree panoramic view of Budapest. This sleeping beauty castle, which has been a favorite place of the locals for over 100 years, is a must see attraction for visitors in Budapest too.

Ronda, Andalucía, Spain IN ONE DAY 30 July 2021 | One of Andalucia’s most famous towns! [Video]

Ronda’s spectacular location atop El Tajo gorge and its status as the largest of Andalucía’s Pueblos Blancos have made it hugely popular with tourists. Modern bullfighting was practically invented here in the late 18th century.Due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions during my visit, access to sites and locations were limited, had altered opening hours or closed. Also, taking in Ronda in only one day may put limits to what is feasable.Watch my other videos from Spain: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjply4VDAlSI7gCyRHuBc0KAzFPMLnVodRonda is set in and around a deep gorge spanned by an impressive bridge, which brings in many day-trippers from the Costa del Sol and other places to admire the view. However, Ronda is also a remarkably pretty town with beautiful architecture from the islamic period up to the 19th century, romantic winding streets with white-washed houses, some interesting museums, and lots of good places to eat and drink. It is also a good base to explore the surrounding area, where you will find beautiful mountains and many of the iconic Pueblos Blancos of Andalusia. The most conspicuous feature of Ronda is its location on a big sandstone hill that is cut in two by the El Tajo gorge, in which the Guadalevín rivers runs some 120 m below. The views of the gorge and the surrounding countryside are breathtaking, and worth the visit in itself.Ronda was already settled in the 6th century BC by the Celtiberians, who called it Arunda. Phoenician settlers later established themselves in Acinipo, also known as Old Ronda, some 20 km to the north-west (watch my video from Acinipo). The current town has Roman origins, and was originally built as a fortification in the Second Punic War (218-201 BC). It was elevated to city status in the time of Julius Caesar. After the collapse of the Roman Empire, Ronda was first occupied by the Suebi and later by the Visigoths, who ruled until the Arab invasion of 713 AD. The Moors renamed it to Hisn Ar-Rundah (Castle of Rundah). The city at that time more or less occupied the current old town centre, to the south of the gorge.Ronda was one of the last outposts of islamic rule in Andalusia, and was only conquered in 1485 by the Spanish, who then gradually drove out the remaining muslim population. In the 17th and 18th century, Ronda expanded north across the gorge into the new town (El Mercadillo), and the Puente Nuevo was finished in 1793 to connect both parts. In the 19th century Ronda was first home to numerous guerrilla warriors fighting the troops of Napoleon, and later to bandits. In this period, it also became a favourite destination for English, French and American travellers, who described it as one of the most romantic places in the world. Some of this fame has stuck to Ronda ever since.During the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), Ronda was the site of much fighting, and became infamous because of the revenge taken by Republican partisans on some 500 Falangist supporters, who were thrown into the gorge from a house on the cliffside. But like almost everything in the Spanish Civil War, the truth of this matter is disputed. This war crime is supposed to have inspired a famous scene in Ernest Hemingway’s novel For Whom The Bell Tolls (1940).Ronda is also supposed to be the birthplace of the Spanish bullfighting tradition, and boasts the oldest bullring in Spain, built in 1785.Information about Ronda:https://www.andalucia.org/es/rondahttps://www.visitacostadelsol.com/convention-bureau/que-hacer/museo-real-maestranza-ronda-p59041https://www.andalucia.org/es/ronda-visitas-museo-municipal-de-ronda-palacio-de-mondragonhttps://www.jeandar.netMusic: Jean Dar – Morning MistAlbum: Tears of Joyhttps://www.jeandar.com
