A Celebration of Jazz EducationEducation Center & Decatur Courtyard$10 SUGGESTED DONATIONThe New Orleans Jazz Museum is proud to present Jazz Between Fests, a celebration of jazz music and culture on the days between Jazz Fest Weekends. The Celebration of Jazz Education on Wednesday, May 4th will showcase the next generation of young talent with performances from Loyola School of Music, UNO, Roots of Music, Trombone Shorty Academy, and more.Some performances will take place in the Museum’s Education Center, while others will be outside in the Decatur Courtyard. Seats are not provided for outdoor programs. Please feel free to bring chairs and blankets. No outside food or drinks, and no dogs please!Organizations for -May 4th Roots of Music:The Roots of Music empowers the youth of New Orleans through music education, academic support, and mentorship while preserving and promoting the unique musical and cultural heritage of our city. Their goal is to provide our kids with the resources they need to lead positive, productive, self-reliant lives. Source: https://therootsofmusic.org/what-we-do/ Trombone Shorty Foundation Academy:Following the path that led to Trombone Shorty’s success, the Trombone Shorty Academy educates the next generation of musically gifted students through a performance curriculum curated by Trombone Shorty and the foundation’s Executive Director, Bill Taylor. Based on Danny Barker’s Fairview Baptist Church music program. Students are fully immersed in the history and key influencers of New Orleans music, while preparing for ensemble performances under the instruction of accomplished musicians, including members of Rebirth Brass Band, The Soul Rebels, and New Breed Brass Band, culminating in the organization’s annual fundraising event, Shorty Fest. Each year the Marching Band represents FHS at the Louisiana Showcase of Marching Bands. In addition to playing at football games, the Band participates in numerous other events and competitions.
