Beekmantown’s Nathan Parliament nominated for award from NY Giants [Video]

A North Country football player has been nominated for an award by the New York Giants for his commitment on and off the field.Beekmantown High School Quarterback Nathan Parliament of West Chazy was nominated by his coach for the 2023 USA Football Heart of a Giant Award.Parliament was nominated for his dedication to organizing off-season activities for his teammates and his tenacity in the weight room, as well as for his continuing efforts to improve his skills on the field, according to the announcement.Parliament is one of 10 weekly nominees from the tri-state area in the six-week-long voting process. A finalist will be chosen each week to advance to the next round, with five “wild card” finalists also rounding out the list of honorees vying for the top spot.Each week’s finalist will receive a $1,000 grant for their high school’s football program, with the grand prize winner’s school getting an additional $9,000 equipment grant.The grand prize winner and his coach will also be honored on the field at a future New York Giants game this season, the announcement said.The grand prize winner will be selected based on video submissions stating why they have the heart of a Giant, according to the official program rules.The opening round of voting is open through Oct. 22 at 11:59 p.m. Click here to see the poll.
