In February of 2022, WayBase conducted our third annual national survey of Christian church and ministry leaders in Canada. The survey had over 2,000 Christian leaders participate from across the country, representing different Christian faith streams, and different sectors of Christian charities.
Older leaders are committed, but engaging younger leaders is key to the long-term health of the Christian sector.
This presents stability that allows young leaders to develop in a supportive environment with experienced senior leaders.
On the other hand—there are fewer opportunities for younger leaders who are ready for senior positions. Although the majority of leaders are committed, leaders under the age of 40 were twice as likely to consider leaving. This creates a significant leadership pipeline challenge for the church.
