Ahead of the upcoming launch of The Beginning, a short film by award-winning filmmaker, child rights activist, and co-founder of Sahiyo, Insia Dariwala, produced by Equality Now, we're proud to share the trailer. The Beginning is the first fiction film on FGM/C from the Asian continent, which seeks to demonstrate the protagonist’s mental trauma and impact caused by FGM/C and why she feels the need to stop this practice. We hope this film will portray the issue in a new light and demonstrate the emotional journey that many survivors of FGM/C face. We also hope it can start a dialogue to discuss the harmful nature of this practice, and encourage more conversations around it.
