With that in mind, welcome to episode twenty, which is with the hugely talented, award-winning former Fund Manager and now Founder of Investment PR firm, Yellowstone Advisory, Alex Schlich. Alex has over 20 years’ experience in fund management, investment banking and strategy consulting investment industry experience.

Alex gained a BA in Business Studies from Sheffield University and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, IL, USA. He started is Investment industry journey as Trainee Fund Manager in 1991, in less than 2 years he was promoted to the full role of Fund Manager.

He worked for 12 years at Collins Stewart and Canaccord Genuity where he was Managing Director and Head of Equity sales. In this role he gained extensive experience of corporate transactions, M&A, IPOs and secondary offerings. During Alex’s time in investment banking, he was regularly recognised as a top ranked salesman covering UK small and mid-cap equities in the annual Extel awards.

On the buy-side, his fund management experience spanned 7 years working at Newton Investment Management and Sanlam FOUR where he managed various Balanced and UK equity portfolios. In 2017 Alex founded Yellowstone Advisory which is an Investor Relations and Corporate Advisory business that works with public and private companies.

In this Investing Matters podcast, I discuss with Alex, how he identifies undervalued stocks, working with Terry Smith, the importance of great mentors, some of his Fund Management experiences, his investing styles, how to spot companies with potential high returns, spotting future investing trends, how to recognise companies that are making mistakes, the importance of cashflow, sell indicators, kindness, charity and much more.
