WESTFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – In Westfield, the annual Rock Against Hunger food drive for homeless families took place on Sunday.
All you needed was one non-perishable food item to get into Shortstop Bar and Grill and take in live performances from local talent.
Organizer Jake Torrey told Western Mass News that the event has been going on since 2010, it was moved to Westfield after the bar he used to run, Geraldine’s in Chicopee, closed. He said he’s been continuing the tradition because he cares about people.
Torrey explained his thought process, saying, “I see a lot of people struggling all over the place, if you can just put musicians together… Just a can of green beans, corn, something to feed a family.”
