SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – A fundraiser was held on Saturday to benefit rural communities in Peru.
The fundraiser took place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. inside La Luna Cafe’ on Phillips Avenue in Sioux Falls.
There was live music and Hector Curriel was providing caricatures with a free-will donation.
The money raised will go to a Peruvian organization called Refuge of Hope, which helps to provide healthcare, education, and food to those in need within Peru.
“My country is a developing country. People can’t rely totally on the government for basic needs. So we try to fill in that gap with an organization like this, to go in and give assistance to people more at risk,” Curriel explained.
Curriel also donated some of his paintings and shirts as part of the fundraising effort.
