COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Thanksgiving is just ten days away! If you’re planning to cook the big meal, you may be in luck at the grocery line this year.
According to the 2023 Wells Fargo Thanksgiving Report, turkey prices are down about 9-13%. Despite the cheaper birds, southern Colorado’s Care and Share Food Bank is still seeing relatively high food prices.
“We’re just kind of in a new normal now with those food prices consistently being high,” said President and CEO Nate Springer. “The big thing we are proud of at Care and Share is our buying power. Right now, $1 donated to Care and Share, we can turn that into 5 meals, and that’s based on how much food we order at one time. We order by the semi truck load full.”
Last year, Care and Share reported that about $25 bought a family a turkey for Thanksgiving. This year, Care and Share says $20 will help a family in need.
